Butler County PA Real Estate

Located north of Allegheny County real estate, Butler County is surrounded by the counties of Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, Clarion and Armstrong.  Still a part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area, it is one of Pennsylvania’s fastest growing counties today.

Butler County PA real estate appeals in particular to those who yearn for the peace of country living, but who don’t necessarily want to give up the sophisticated amenities of the metro.  The county seat is the city of Butler, which lies less than an hour’s drive north of downtown Pittsburgh homes for sale.

Named after American Revolutionary War hero Gen. Richard Butler, Butler County was created out of an area carved out of Allegheny County in 1800.  With an area that sprawls over 795 square miles and containing a wide range of communities, you’ll find a variety of Butler County, PA real estate to choose from, whether you’re looking for a townhouse in the city or a home in the country with acreage.  As of 2007 estimates from the Census Bureau, the county is home to approximately 181,934 people.

Butler County is also where you’ll find the 16,725-acre Moraine State Park, which features Lake Arthur, a 3,225-acre manmade recreational lake.
